Payment of Property Taxes

Property taxes are the main source of funding for the City's many services and programs, such as police and fire protection, codes enforcement, parks, recreation and public works.

Current year taxes are due December 31st and will be considered delinquent and subject to penalty and interest charges from January 1st of the following year. 

Payments by cash, personal check, money order or credit and debit cards are accepted at City Hall. If credit or debit cards are used at City Hall, there will be a 2.75% fee charged by the credit or debit card companies. Only Visa, Mastercard or Discover are accepted if paid at City Hall. Payments may be made online by e-check, credit or debit cards for a 2.75% fee paid by customer for this convenience.

Current property taxes can be paid by mail to P.O. Box 2508, Jackson, TN 38302-2508, or 101 E. Main St. Ste. 101, Jackson, TN  38301 or in person at City Hall. 

Delinquent taxes that are more than one year behind must be paid at the Chancery Court Office in the Madison County Courthouse. Previous years' taxes must be paid by October 31st, or else by November 1st, they will be in Chancery Court.
